mímica
Led by vocalist and composer Stephanie Borgani, Mímica investigates the possible symmetries between wind instruments and the human voice through both improvised and written processes. Through pieces that explore possibilities of camouflage, alternation, and interweaving between these four timbres and their musical worlds, Mímica explores ways for the voice to take on an instrumental character, and on the other, wind instrument sounds that evoke vocal qualities.

Mímica premiered as a performance of the same name at Teatro do Centro da Terra (São Paulo) in November 2024, with a debut album release expected in mid-2026. In addition to Stephanie, the group includes Marina Marchi (voice), Lucas Sales (alto saxophone), and Marlon Cordeiro (tenor saxophone).

Respiro duo
Luis Chamis (piano) and Stephanie Borgani (wordless voice) come together to push boundaries in the art of the voice and piano duo. Expressed through intricate arrangements as well as improvisation, both free and structured, “Respiro” explores the voice as equal to the piano, rather than highlighted – embodying a queering of structures that is central to this project. They are influenced by Brazilian instrumental music, jazz, contemporary classical music, and free improvisation.

Choro Party Progression (EP)
“Choro Party Progression” is a three-part suite inspired by a house gathering I attended during my first months living in Boston, before the pandemic. The movements of the music tell the timeline of an evening spent with warm food, good people, and beautiful music.

Chululu
Stephanie Borgani & Isabel Crespo Pardo are vocalists, composers and improvisers exploring Brazilian music as an Chululu, unaccompanied vocal duo. Influenced by Jazz, Classical music, and Free Improvisation, their recompositions of popular songs balance dissonance with lyricism and openness with specificity. They have toured in both the USA and Brazil.
